The Hindustani Covenant Church, HCC, has been a partner that continues to astound us with their commitment to transforming the lives of individuals and communities all across India.  Some of their many efforts to strive for justice and act compassionately can be seen in this previous blog post.  By partnering with HCC, we have been blessed to receive further update on three of their projects located in Chopda, Dang, and Orissa.

In Chopda, women are taking the challenge to receive training and give back with exciting results.  Some of the trained students are now creating their own sewing classes for new students to learn.  One example of this can be seen through Mrs. Roma Bai.  After completing her own classes, she has now taken in eight girls to guide them through the same training she had received.  In addition, women are being taught to make traditional bamboo craft baskets.  They are able to not only produce, but to market their products as well.

In Dang, a dairy farm has been implemented as an excellent source of income.  This sustainable project has and will continue to create employment for many women.  The goal of HCC and CSS (Covenant Social Service) is to have this farm handed over entirely to the community.

Finally in Orissa, we continue to see the amazing work the sewing classes are doing for students there.  Many girls come from villages in the area, with the support of their parents, to learn the craft of stiching clothing to sell in the community.  The staff in Orissa have been so blessed to hear encouraging feedback from all of those directly and indirectly involved.
