CANADA TEAM – WORK DAY #2
Welcome our Canadian friends!
Today, we welcomed our Canadian friends from the Covenant Church of Canada! 24 team members arrived late last night and quickly got to work today on the first home for at risk children. We are working on pouring the ceiling for the homes while they are here.
What a blessing!
Many of you who have been following us for a while will remember our good friends Ruben and Amparo Rocha at the Covenant Campgrounds in Santo Domingo. You’ll remember that the campgrounds have many needs. One of these was the need for a riding lawn mower to make the grass cutting less grueling. For the camp employees, mowing all of the lawn required three full days of labor with a push mower. Well, a neat thing that we were able to help out was with assisting in transporting a donated lawn mower from Ohio to Ecuador on our container. We had the joy of turning this lawn mower as well as a brand new weedwacker over to Ruben and Amparo. And as soon as they got there, they put it to use as you can see in the second picture. What a blessing to be able to share in this kind of way!
Oh boy!
Container arrives in Cayambe!
After almost a whole year from when we received our medical donations, they have FINALLY arrived in Cayambe to be used in our new clinic. It was quite the party while unloading the container.
Container released!
Angel in Heaven
My mom went to be with the Lord yesterday. It was a long hard fight against cancer in which she gave it her all but we all knew that the cancer would win in the end. She died peacefully at home with my dad, sister and brother all by her side. We will be traveling tomorrow to go home for the funeral. Here is her obituary: http://www.yoderculpfuneralhome.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=1509448
Thank you for your prayers!
IPEE’s Annual Meeting
We just got back from attending IPEE’s Annual Meeting in Santo Domingo in which Joel received the special designation of having his Ordination Recognized by IPEE, so he is now considered to be an Ordained Minister in Ecuador in addition to the United States. It was a very special event not only because all of the ordained ministers had their ordinations reaffirmed through the receiving of stolls but also because Curt Peterson, the ECC’s Executive Minister of World Mission, was in attendance and was a part of the event. Enjoy the pictures!
Welcome Wally!
We have a Garret Theological Seminary Student spending time with us this week. His name is Wally Kelly and we actually go back quite a while from when we used to both attend Northwest Covenant Church together. We look forward to spending time with Wally and getting the chance to show off our beautiful country! Welcome Wally!
