More scorned and scarred than when He came
A pinned exhibit on a tree
The Son of Heaven and Lord of earth
Divorced from both in agony

Cut off from God by human sin
Abandoned by His

Dark.
Not dusk,
no moon or stars, as on a clear night;
No.

This dark was thick, oppressively thick;
All the goodness that ever existed
had been sucked out of the world.

Nothing.
Empty.
