Medical Teams International is one of CWR’s main partners in Haiti.  MTI has been actively fighting the cholera epidemic since October. An ECC team of medical volunteers will be going with MTI next month. The following is a recent update from MTI.

Medical Teams International donors, volunteers, partners and staff have joined together to battle a cholera epidemic over the past few weeks. The battle goes on as the disease continues to spread. Your prayers and support have played an essential part and helped:

  • Sent more than $8 million in medicines and supplies to help clinics and hospitals meet ongoing needs.
  • Trained local doctors and nurses to respond to a cholera epidemic that started in October.
  • Cared for more than 40,000 cholera patients.
  • Delivered more than $800,000 in supplies to fight the cholera epidemic.
  • Continued care of patients in Centre Medical Beraca (hospital in La Pointe) and North West Haiti Christian Mission (CTU, St. Louis du Nord) as well as provided medical care in Canaan Tent City, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
  • Provided 1,400 rehabilitation sessions and needed prosthetics to people disabled in the earthquake through an Advantage rehabilitation program in Les Caye.
