Medical Teams International donors, volunteers, partners and staff have joined together to battle a cholera epidemic over the past few weeks. The battle goes on as the disease continues to spread. Your prayers and support have played an essential part and helped:

  • Trained local doctors and nurses at two cholera clinics to respond to a cholera epidemic that started in October.
  • Cared for more than 40,000 cholera patients.
  • Delivered more than $800,000 in supplies to fight the cholera epidemic.
  • Continued care of patients in Centre Medical Beraca (hospital in La Pointe) and North West Haiti Christian Mission (CTU, St. Louis du Nord) as well as provided medical care in Canaan Tent City, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
  • Provided 1,400 rehabilitation sessions and needed prosthetics to people disabled in the earthquake through an Advantage rehabilitation program in Les Caye.

I’ve also attached a link to an article that ran this week about volunteers who just returned from the area as well as some things that Joe had to say about the epidemic.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti as cholera continues to take its toll.
