Philippines Haiyan Food Aid Response: With support to Philippines Relief and Development (PHILRADS), we were able to start their emergency response on November 10, 2013 only 2 days after the typhoon had passed. The immediate response from World Relief allowed PHILRADS to support pastors within Philippine Evangelical Disaster Response Network who could access some food through traders to reach out to 6000 families in Ormoc City and Bantayan Island of Northern Cebu with a 5 day food package with rice, cans of sardines/tuna, condensed milk, sugar, salt, coffee, tea, serving app. 30,000 individuals. All manpower, facility and distribution/transportation cost was covered by local pastor and churches.
Syrian Refugees Response (3 cities in Jordan): (June-October 2013) In partnership with a local Christian Missionary Alliance church in Mafraq, Jordan; and through other organizations in Irbid and Amman, World Relief and ECC are providing food aid and non-food items (blankets, mattresses, pillows, towels, hygiene items, and health related items) to families who are unable to return to Syria. These refugees are trying to establish a new form of ‘home’ in countries that they have fled to for safety, but are not legally allowed to work, and many have seen their resources depleted by an influx of neighbors, family members and friends impacted by the fighting between the government and rebels.
Continue to pray for those who have been affected by violence and natural disasters as they continue to heal.
