Covenant Companion Magazine – 40 Under 40
Johnna secretly nominated me for an article in the Covenant Companion Magazine. I was surprised that they chose me! They are highlighting 40 people under 40 to represent the future of the Covenant Denomination.
My first Covenant connection was in 2005 in Spain. I met the Reeds, a family of missionaries (Rob and Nancy Reed, their two children Josue and Sofia, and Rob’s parents, Nancy and Jerry). Since then, I have been walking on the Covenant trail little by little.
After my experience in Europe with Rob Reed, I met Johnna in Belgium, who served Covenant World Mission in Waterloo. We started dating and then got married at Immanuel Covenant Church in Chicago in 2011.
So, as soon as we moved to Florida, Johnna told me the Japan Covenant team had a need among the Brazilian and Spanish speakers community because they have never had anyone speaking Portuguese and Spanish among Japanese descendants. After talking awhile to each other about the opportunity to serve as missionaries, we decided to apply for the position. Today we are getting ready to move to Japan to serve Covenant World Mission among the Brazilians and Spanish speakers, the international community, as well as to support the existing Japanese projects that include 24 churches, a seminary, a camp and relief work through Covenant World Relief.
I am glad to be part of this team. I am glad to start a new season in my life by joining the Covenant denomination. I want to thank Covenant Companion for choosing me as one of their 40 under 40. Thank you!
