Human Trafficking Auction

Wait, that doesn’t sound right. How about an auction to raise money to fight AGAINST human trafficking. Ben organized the 2nd Annual Blue Heart Music Night.  (Here’s the story of the 1st one)

Friends donated 23 desserts for the silent auction, including pecan pies (pecans are a rare treat), cheesecakes, and lots of chocolate!

This year in addition to the desserts, framed photographs were donated too. These photos had been entered in photo contests at RFIS a few years ago.

One of Ben’s friends gave a short talk on trafficking. Well written, well presented and informative.

Throughout the evening the RFIS Big Spirit Band entertained with music they’d been working on in class and in instrument lessons.

The music portion ended with a special treat of songs performed by members of Reason Gospel Choir, who donated their talents for the evening’s event.

Between the auction and donations on GoFundMe, about $1,000 was raised. All donations will be given to Survivor’s Network, a Cameroonian organization that combats human trafficking.
The founder of the organization will be speaking in chapel at RFIS next month, so tune in again for those details!
