October and November remind us of cool crisp Michigan Autumn, apple orchards and American football while we slop through puddles in the Cameroon rainy season. And instead of anticipating snows of winter, we’re looking forward to sunnier dry season to begin soon. Whatever the weather, there is much to be thankful for as we anticipate American Thanksgiving. Thank you for joining us in praise and prayer for the following.
For October praise God with us for:
1. October 9 was the presidential election in Cameroon. Praise God for a peaceful election process and acceptance of the results. Many believers had been praying over the election process for months. God is faithful. Political stability is a gift that we don’t take for granted.
2. Praise God that Ron and the crew have completed the Prayer Chapel. And double praise that the Prayer Chapel is already getting a lot of use! One of the maintenance men complained that he hasn’t been able to sweep the floor because there’s always someone using it!
3. Praise God for our Michelle’s 16th birthday! We’re so proud of the godly woman she is growing to be.
4. We’re thankful to be able to provide logistical help for Covenant and Free Church missionaries passing through Yaoundé. In October we enjoyed time with colleagues from Central African Rep. and helping a team of veterinarian students with lodging and getting them safely to the airport. Pray that their experience here will inspire them to consider serving as vets in missions.
For November pray with us for:
1. Pray that we’ll soon obtain a building permit for construction of a new Covenant/Free Church Hostel and staff housing adjacent to RFIS property.
2. Pray for new teachers to come to Rain Forest International School (RFIS) next school year. We have more positions to fill than seems humanly possible. Teachers are needed for the Middle School, High School in order for missionaries to continue their work of evangelism, Bible Translation, medical work etc. (For a complete list go to http://www.rfis.org/index.php/staffneeds.)
3. Pray for Janet’s relationships with various women and girls she is meeting with for Bible Study, prayer and discipleship. May the Lord direct conversations to His glory and purpose.
4. Pray for upcoming visitors/travelers: A team of 3 Covenant African American pastors is coming to encourage Sharon Davis in the work of Community Development. Paul & Sheryl Noren with Marta Klein are coming from Congo via Central African Rep. Pray for safe travels, good health, and that the Lord’s purpose will be fulfilled in and through them during their time here. We’re working out logistics for others coming in Jan. and Feb.
5. Pray for health. Specifically, my (Janet) left ear has been plugged from the inside for a few weeks. No pain or infection, just annoying loss of hearing. (Praise: the ear has improved incredibly!) Also Michelle continues to have symptoms of hives off and on. Please pray for us both to find solutions to these health issues that may lead to healing.
6. Please pray for Covenant Short Term Missionary and RFIS Math/Science teacher Samantha Barron who is currently in the US to join her family as her mother was diagnosed with cancer.
7. Continue to pray for my friend and her family. She lives in constant spiritual battle in the home where her in-laws are influencing family members away from Jesus. Pray that seeds of faith will be allowed to grow and not be snatched away or choked out by traditions of false gods.
Thank you for remembering us in prayer,
