Election Day Waffles ‘n’ Worship

What would you do on election day, if it’s a Sunday, you’re in a foreign country, and your church service was cancelled?  Judging by the lack of traffic on our normally busy street, most of the city decided to lay low today.  We had planned a Waffles ‘n’ Worship Sunday with our friends the Chiltons.

Brunch buffet of waffles

We enjoyed a buffet of waffles topped with our choice of Lori’s world famous pineapple sauce, powdered sugar or homemade maple syrup, plus side dishes of sausage, and lots of fruit.  After brunch we sang worship songs led by Michelle on guitar, then watched a sermon downloaded from our home church web site.  We were encouraged by Pastor Craig Swanson’s message from Joseph’s life reminding us that sometimes life is great, sometimes it stinks, mostly it’s normal, and through it all, God is with us.

We appreciate being able to download good sermons from our home church, First Evangelical Covenant in Grand Rapids, MI for viewing at home, sharing with friends, or even for use as a “guest speaker” when all of the usual speakers at the International Christian Church of Yaounde are not available.

Thankfully, we’re having a very quiet, peaceful election day with friends and family.  Thanks to those of you at FECC in GR for your part!
