May 2011 Prayer Update

He is risen indeed!  Do you know Him, and the power of His resurrection?  That same power that brought life where there was death brings spiritual life where there was death every day!  Praise God!

Praise God for these blessings in April:

1.  Sharon Davis, short term missionary for community development, arrived April 2nd.  It has been a pleasure getting her oriented to life and ministry here.  God seems to pave the way before her as she meets key people and makes great connections in the missionary community and among Cameroonians.

2.  The cholera epidemic is subsiding.  The city water is back on and smelling of chlorine, so they must have cleaned the system well.

3.  Praise God for protection.  There have been no new robberies in recent weeks.

Pray with us for these things coming up in May:

1.  Roy and Aleta Danforth, serving in Central African Republic, will be leaving Africa on May 13 via Yaounde for their time of home assignment in the US.  Pray for uncomplicated travel and for a good time of connecting with ministry partners and family members.

2.  Sheryl Noren has been in the USA since April 20 meeting final requirements to obtain her EMT license, without which she would not be able to work in Congolese hospitals.  Pray that she will soon obtain the license and be able to return to Africa and meet up with Paul again.

3.  Jeff & Carolyn Stoker, serving here in Yaounde,  will spend some time May 3-17 in California for their daughter Beth’s graduation from College.  Pray for safe timely travel and a good celebration with Beth.

4.  I, Janet, am learning more about the umbrella organization, Evangelical Covenant International Partners (ECIP) under which we work here in Cameroon and my role in it.  I need to work on preparation and update of some documents for this organization.  Pray for clear understanding of what is needed.

5.  Please pray for the husband of a Cameroonian friend of mine.  He is a first generation Christian and seems to have a greater fear of his family’s false gods and traditions than he has a fear of God.  Pray that he will be delivered from the bondage to these gods and the traditions they have imposed on his family for centuries.  Pray that through my friend he and his family will experientially know the resurrection power of Jesus Christ and find new LIFE in Him.

6.  The 13 year old daughter of one of the men who works with Ron (in maintenance at RFIS) died from sickle cell anemia on Saturday morning April 30.  Please pray for Ernest and his family as they grieve their loss.

Thank you for praying for and with us.

  1. Ron, Janet & Family:
During the month of June, your family will be the missionary of the month at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Clay Center, Ks.
Also, I have spoken with the contact person of the small group that has adopted your family and the small group will be in contact with you shortly. The contact person has recently had a baby and things have been hectic for her. I believe this is child #3.
Our congregation has also begun a new church plant about 40 miles north of Clay Center in the town of Washington, Ks., so far the services have been well attended. This plant has taken a lot longer to begin than others we have participated in locally. We also continue to grow in number as well as spiritually due in part to our intentional mission ministry both at home and overseas.
May your day be blessed, Bob

  2. Thanks for your note, Bob. Yes, we did hear from the contact person. She is busy! So exciting to hear how the church is growing. Blessings. Let us know if you would like our latest prayer cards to be available to the congregation in June. We appreciate your interest in our ministry and investment in the Kingdom work here.
