Transitions

Transition: the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another.  Or for many of our students and staff, from one continent to another. For many graduating seniors the transition is complicated by a change from living with friends and families to college, life away from all that is familiar.

The senior class was treated to a seminar just for them, given by a missionary counselor who has been working part time at RFIS this year. As you can see, the atmosphere was relaxed, in their own senior lounge. In the brief time allowed, they were at least made aware of some joys and challenges they have to look forward to as they make the transition not only from high school to college or gap year, but from one country or continent to another.

Please pray with us for our graduating seniors as they say their good-byes, reconcile with anyone they’ve had difficulties with, affirm the positive in others, say “farewell” to special people, places and things, and finally as they think ahead to new and exciting adventures.

Do you know anyone returning to your church, school or neighborhood who has been overseas for a time? Here is a humorous look at what to say and what not to say — or how to drive them crazy as they make that transition from former “home” to new “home.”  http://www.thecultureblend.com/how-to-drive-an-expat-crazy-10-ways-to-irritate/
