Five leaders of the Congo Covenant Church (CEUM) have come to Yaounde, Cameroon! We are so thankful that they arrived safely at Wycliffe’s Training Center where they are attending a seminar (Jan. 28-Feb. 9) called “Leadership Matters”.

Participants from the CEUM in Congo include the Chief of Staff, the denomination Vice President, Medical Coordinator, head of Women Ministries, and head of Christian Education.
We are pleased to be in Yaounde to receive these Congolese colleagues in ministry. Our fellow missionaries, Pete & Cindy Ekstrand, saw them off at the airport in Kinshasa. Their flight took them to Douala, Cameroon where they caught a bus for Yaounde. They kept us updated on their travels by phone so that Covenant missionary Paul Noren could pick them up at the bus station here and take them to their rooms at the Training Center just a couple blocks from our house.

The 2 week intensive course focuses on developing basic leadership skills for Christian workers and covers the following skill areas: communication, management, relational, motivational, devotional, strategic planning for their vocation, training, public relations and leadership.

The training sessions include times of worship, lecture, discussions and presentations by participants.

Rev. Kikwiti told me that she is so glad all five of these CEUM leaders came to the seminar. “One of us may hear things the others missed. When we get back to Congo we can discuss how to implement the things we are learning here.” (rough translation from Lingala)
The President of Congo Covenant Church understands the importance of this training, and made the decision that all 5 participants should come, even though the trip was not yet fully funded.
