Meet the Andersons: Covenanters in World Mission

The Anderson Family

David and DeAnna Anderson arrived in Yaounde, Cameroon this past summer – shortly after we Zs arrived here.  They are missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in computer services and education of missionary children.  DeAnna and I share the job of teaching the Kindergarten class at the Parent Run School for missionary children, and their younger son is in our class (and is making great progress in learning to read).

As members of an Evangelical Covenant Church in Missouri, they qualified to become “Covenanters in Mission.”  After a brief application process (all on line) they are officially accepted as our first Covenanters in Mission here in Yaounde, Cameroon.  Pray for the Anderson family as they adjust to life in Cameroon and to their ministries.  For more, click here to see their personal web site.  You’ll also find DeAnna’s excellent recipe collection!

Do you know missionaries who are members of a Covenant Church and are serving with an organization other than Covenant World Mission?  Covenant World Mission would like to recognize and affirm their call to international ministry.  This is also a great way for them to connect with the larger Covenant Family for prayer support, and with Covenant missionaries in their service location for encouragement and moral support.  Let them know about this opportunity.  The Covenant website describes this role, and has an application form to download and complete.

The following is taken from the Covenant web site:

A Covenanter in World Mission is a recognized member of a local Covenant church doing mission work internationally with another mission organization for at least one year. The Department of World Mission (DWM) acknowledges and values their work toward building for the kingdom of God. Once identified by the DWM, a Covenanter in World Mission will:

  • be acknowledged and recognized at the Annual Meeting of the Covenant.
  • be listed annually in the Covenant missionary prayer calendar and on the Covenant website.
  • receive a letter of appreciation from the DWM acknowledging participation in international mission as a Covenanter.
  • be invited to communicate regularly with appropriate regional coordinators for encouragement.
  • be invited to participate in the fellowship and encouragement of any geographically close DWM country mission events and gatherings.
