Summer Fun with the Zieglettes

What a great way to spend some summer break time – in the USA with the Zieglettes and other family members, in Pure Michigan!

Nathan & Michelle got Ben involved in one of their new favorite activities – it’s so nice to see how supportive they are !!

Nathan’s summer job as camp counselor at Skyline Camp involved archery, fishing, and canoeing with special needs campers of various ages (in June) and traditional camps in July.

Besides visiting a few universities, Ben attended soccer camp at Calvin College, one of the top on his list of places he’s interested going after high school.

Summer fun with the Zieglettes included shopping, movies, restaurants, spending time with my (Janet’s) siblings — all 5 plus Dad & Rosalie, even a bridal shower for a niece, a trip to the big lake (Lake Michigan) and a day at camp.

For the weekend of July 4 we stopped in at the camping site / beach where Michelle’s boyfriend, Nate, and family were doing their annual vacation.

And the final adventure before I returned to Cameroon: Treetop Adventure Park — a high ropes and zipline course in Grand Rapids. Even I went on one of the easy courses. The monkeys of kids went on medium and difficult courses, making it look easy. Of course, after bungee jumping in South Africa everything else is pretty non-threatening.

Meanwhile, Ron had a gym to build so he stayed in Cameroon — lamenting the fact that I had all 3 kids with me. Thankfully neighbors and friends were looking out for him, and enjoying thrice weekly croquet and tea times.

Ben stayed a few more weeks with a friend and returned to Cameroon just a couple days before school resumed. This being his senior year, he has great plans to make it memorable.
