Every 2 years all Covenant missionaries serving in Africa gather for fellowship, spiritual refreshment and fun. This year once again we gathered in Cameroon.

We received over 30 guests from far away places like Mozambique, Ethiopia, Congo, Central African Republic and the USA! One positive thing about the UBAC Hostel not being occupied by students this year, it serves as a guest house that has been well used! Before and after our time at the beach resort our guests were able to stay in the hostel.

Monday we all jumped on a hired bus (and in a couple pick up trucks) and headed a few hours west to the beach in Kribi. The meals at the hotel restaurant were wonderful.

One day on the beach we saw a dog digging in the sand. Next thing you know he had found a treasure that he carried in his mouth. On closer examination, we discovered it was a baby sea turtle! We tried to rescue that one, then another before realizing the dog will not stop digging until he was rewarded with a turtle breakfast.

One night the boys discovered a moray eel. It had been given to them by a local fisher. So they examined it, cleaned it, cooked it and ate it! Didn’t exactly taste like chicken, but a very mild fish.

With Mrs. Stoker, head of Science Dept. at RFIS, nearby an anatomy lesson was a bonus activity.

A short walk to the falls and shopping at the beach market for souvenirs is always fun.

One night we had a big bonfire, thanks to the hotel staff. It was perfect for roasting marshmellows and making s’mores.

Mornings we spent in devotions, worship, and meditations led by guest speaker, Pastor Bob Anderson.

Each missionaries has opportunity for personal sharing time. It’s a chance to share the highs and lows, victories and challenges we’ve faced in the past year or 2. Then our colleagues pray over us, praising Him for what He is doing in and through us, and bringing each other before the Throne with requests on each other’s behalf. It is the highlight for me.

We are thankful for safe travels, and for connecting with old and new friends.
