China, Thailand and Africa in one Church Service

Today was our last Sunday at our home church in Grand Rapids, MI.   Below is a slide show of the day’s events which included praying for and sending off the DeKams who are going to China for the summer with IVCF.

We Zs were also sent off and prayed for in a moving Thai ceremony.  Members of the missions commission and others with a special connection to our family tied strings on our wrists while giving words of blessing and promises of prayer for our journey and service.   Why a Thai ceremony in an American church for missionaries to Africa?  There were special guests in the church this morning.

Daeng Suddcha, President of the Covenant Church of Thailand and his wife Tip sang and played Thai instruments, and presented the morning message.  They have amazing stories to share of how they came to know and follow Jesus and many things the Lord has done in their lives and the lives of Thai people who choose to follow Jesus.
