Mrs. Z Tries the PE “Beep Run”

When I’m tired of being cooped up in my office I like to go out to see what the PE classes are doing.

It didn’t look that hard

They were just running back and forth, back and forth over and over and over. Just a short distance, and not even very fast.

It’s called “The Beep Run” and the students were kind of groaning about it. But also encouraging and cheering each other.

So, I had to try it.

What is it? You have a certain amount of time to get yourself from one line of cones to the other before the “beep” goes off. At certain intervals the time between beeps decreases, so you have to go faster. If you don’t get to the cones before the “beep” you’re out. After about the 6th speed increase students start dropping out.

Guess what? It’s harder than it looks. I was the first to drop out… at level 4. But it was fun, and now I know what the beep run is, and can sympathize when students complain about it.

This was a great way to end the class — gathered arm in sweaty arm, in a circle to praise God for strength and the ability to honor Him in their bodies.
