Resurrection Sunday Celebrations

Those of us living near the Rain Forest International School campus and our recently arrived guests, gathered near the school’s Prayer Garden early this morning to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in a sunrise service.  We sang, we read Scripture, we shared, we prayed.

Then we all walked over to the Stoker’s place for brunch.  What a great way to celebrate our risen Lord!

Did I mention we have guests here?  This week we Covenant missionaries serving in Africa are gathering for a spiritual retreat.  So friends came from Congo, Central African Republic and the USA.  Among our US guests is Pastor Craig Swanson from our home church in Grand Rapids.  We are so thankful that all arrived safely and in good time.  Pastor Craig’s flight had to be rescheduled 3 times due to mechanical problems on his first flight out of Grand Rapids.  In the end he arrived at our house at 1 AM with all his luggage!  God is good!

So, after a 4 hour “night” of sleep, the sunrise service came very early!  By the end of our brunch, he was able to see some of the sights, including the wild animal we’re keeping in our back yard — the Sitatunga (look it up)

We also spent the early afternoon enjoying all the fun goodies he brought to us!  Thanks so much to my dear friends in Community Bible Study for providing everything on our wish list!

And then at 2 pm we headed over to the UBAC Hostel (upstairs from Stoker’s house) for Easter dinner with our Covenant companions in mission

.??????????

Buffet included “road chicken” ordered from a roadside grill, salads, potatoes & gravy, multiple veggies & fruits.

??????????

During the meal a huge storm came out of nowhere — a good strong tropical storm, complete with power outage.

And then Ron got a phone call… gotta read the next blog post to find out what news that call contained!
