The (not so) Magic School Bus

Freezing rain.  Record snowfall.  Polar Vortex.  January thaw.   Three snow days meant extended Christmas break (1 day before, 2 days after).  Students love it.  Drivers, not so much.  But this morning, the 1″-2″ thick ice in our street meant entertainment out our front window, frustration for a bus driver, and late arrival to school for a busload of elementary students!

After several unsuccessful attempts to drive away, the driver called for another bus to pick up his young passengers.

Though one of the parents tried to stop him, the driver of the rescue bus came too far down the road and had difficulty backing up on the ice.

The empty bus sat here until a school pick-up truck came to throw salt down enabling the driver to move on.

Fortunately we had no pressing appointments this morning since the end of the driveway was blocked!

I’ll bet the driver wished this was the Magic School Bus that would transform into a flying machine to transport the students to school on time!
