March 2013 Prayer Updates

Praises for February

  1. Praise God for progress on the duplex construction.  This month the 2nd story walls went up and soon the roof will go on.  Thankfully God has protected the workers – no injuries yet.
    .
  2. Praise God for successful completion of the Leadership Matters Course by 5 Congo Covenant Church leaders.  The training (www.leadershipmatters.ws) was led by Wycliffe’s training department here in Yaounde Jan. 28-Feb. 9.  The church leaders went home energized and excited about implementing all they learned.
    .
  3. Praise God with Michelle and the Rain Forest Running Club (plus 4 adults) for safety, good health, good weather, and a unique experience with God in his creation while climbing Mt. Cameroon (W. Africa’s highest point) Jan. 29-Feb. 3.
    .
  4. Praise God for moving in the lives of Rain Forest (RFIS) students during Spiritual Retreat (Feb. 5-8).  Many students who were already believers renewed their commitments to Christ; those who have not yet accepted Christ have moved closer to that decision.
    .
  5. Answered prayer from November 2012 for Joy, a former Korean RFIS student who moved back to Korea in Nov. with her parents.  We’d asked God to provide Christian friends.  Praise Him that she has found a church, went on a church retreat, “came back to God” (her words), is now serving on worship team at that church, has many Christian friends, and takes every opportunity to share Christ with others, including her parents.  (Her brother attends Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI)

Prayer Requests for March

  1. Pray that the students who made new or renewed commitments to Christ during the RFIS Spiritual Retreat will continue to grow spiritually.
    .
  2. Pray for continued good progress on the duplex construction.  The upper floor is done, windows and doors are going in, and it’s ready for the roof to be put on.  Pray the funds stretch till at least one side of the duplex is finished.
    .
  3. Pray for a French family (3 adults, 4 children) who were kidnapped in the Far North Region of Cameroon in February.  There is now (after a week of hearing nothing about them) a video out with demands by the abductors.  The French family are believers.  Pray for their safety and release; and pray that the kidnappers’ hearts will change.  Pray that the Lord will fulfill his purpose through this terrifying event.  (PS. They are friends of friends, and we are far from their location, and not in any danger ourselves.  So pray for them and do not be concerned for us).
    .
  4. April 1-5 all Covenant missionaries in Africa will meet together for Covenant Fellowship at Kribi, Cameroon.  So this month pray that everyone coming from outside of Cameroon will obtain visas on time, that travel will go smoothly, that all the logistical details of travel and lodging in advance of the conference will go well.
    .
  5. March 13-31 Sharon Davis will be travelling with 2 visiting Covenant missionary couples (Dave & Debbie Williams and Baxter & Margie Swenson), introducing them to the ministry and the people she’s been working with in the NW Cameroon.  And 25-29 March the Swensons plan a trip to CAR to visit the Danforth’s agricultural ministry.  Pray for safe travel.
    .
  6. Pray that the Covenant missionaries who are coming to the close of their ministry terms in Africa will finish well, and make good transitions.  Sharon Davis is going back to the US after 2 years in Cameroon; Marta Klein is going back to the US after her 2 years in Congo.
    .

Thank you for praying for our ministry in Cameroon.
