Summer Vacation Trip – Kribi

Between the end of school busyness, helping colleagues pack & leave and welcoming new staff & getting ready for the next school year, we had one free week this summer — so we went to the beach!

Kribi, Cameroon July 2012

Sunset our first evening in Kribi is enough to relax us

RFIS teacher Miss Pruden came with us to get a bit of a break

An afternoon walk along the beach...

... to the waterfalls. Such beauty to be found in Cameroon

Our time at the beach hotel overlapped with Covenant missionary friends Tim & Helen Smith who serve in Congo, and Roy & Aleta Danforth, who serve in Central African Republic.  The Smiths came to Cameroon on the way to and from a few week visit in Equatorial Guinea where they had served in previous years.

The Z boys love to bring a shovel to the beach –  dig holes and fill them up or watch the ocean fill them in again.  This time they saw a hotel employee start to dig a canal to drain a stopped up stream.  So they grabbed shovels and helped.
Digging a small canal through a sand bar on the beach
The powerful water dug an even wider and deeper canal
The small canal became a raging river.
By the time we left the next day, the raging river had become a narrow trickle.  The power of running water to wash away truck loads of sand is incredible.  And we were thankful for the power of this beautiful place to wash away our stress and cares for a truely relaxing vacation.
