December 2009 Prayer Update

We just enjoyed a full week with Ron’s sister, her husband and their 2 sons (about Nathan and Ben’s ages) over the week of Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Since I didn’t get an update out last month, here are praises for October and November:

Praise God with us for

  • time spent with the Fellowship Covenant Church congregation on Sunday morning Oct. 11, both in the Church Service and an adult Sunday School class.
  • the opportunity to host former Covenant missionary colleagues Drs. Gwen & Mike Luepke who were in the area for meetings.  It was fitting they were here to celebrate Michelle’s 14th birthday as it was Dr. Mike who delivered her all those  years ago in Congo!
  • Michelle’s life (14 years old)
  • Nathan’s life (12 years old)
  •  Global Outreach Sunday at our church, with a focus on Muslim ministry – I’m so thankful for the members of the mission commission (that I chair) and all their help; for all the participants which included Covenant missionaries Andy Larsen, Galen Johnson, and the Norens. I’m thankful for Sheryl and Kristina Noren’s wonderful cooking at the evening meal; and for the panel discussion on Muslim ministry that followed.   Significant things happened throughout the day.
  • time spent with the congregation at Faith Covenant in Farmington Hills, MI.  We enjoyed an overnight with former Covenant missionary colleagues Pastor Dennis and Mary Lynn Carlson, and time in both morning services, plus in an adult Sunday School class.
  •  several individuals and churches who are joining our team of ministry partners, pledging to support us in prayer and financially as we work toward 80% support level in order to go to Cameroon next summer.

Pray with us in December for

  • rich blessings as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus with  family gatherings, kids school concerts, and what may turn out to be our last Christmas in snow for a few years, Lord willing. (not to escape snow, but to join our colleagues in Cameroon)

  • continued increase to our team of ministry partners — a recent note from Covenant missionary Carolyn Stoker, acting director of Rain Forest International School this year, says they hope we’ll be there to celebrate with them next year.

  • contacts with more churches who would schedule us to visit – and meet with missions comittees, pastors, small groups, and anyone else interested in partnering with us.  It’s only as a team that we can enable other missionaries in Central Africa to do their ministries of Bible translation, medical work, evangelism etc. by helping to care for the educational needs of their children.

Thank you so much for praying
