Don’t Judge an Appliance by its Box

Promotional points of my new electric hot pot.

Last week I bought a new electric hot pot.  I could tell right away on reading the promo bits on the box that it was going to be a high quality appliance since point No. 2 is “the function is stable and the service life is long”  However, when I used it the first time, it did not “cut the power the safe system automatically” and in fact, water ran all over the counter from the bottom of the pot when it heated.  So in the end, even if according to point #4 “Multi layer safe protection system”, it did not “ensure you can trust the usage.”

While the outside of the box was amusing, if not impossible to understand, the instruction pamphlet inside the box was in very clear English, with alternate Russian language instructions.  Most useful in French Cameroon… not.  And no indication was given anywhere on the box, appliance or instructions as to where it was manufactured.  Obviously whoever wrote the promo bits on the box was not a speaker of English.
