Coast to Coast and First Goodbyes

Amigos, please accept our apologies for the lack of activity on this blog recently, but I promise we have a pretty decent excuse- we are preparing to go to Ecuador!! And not the theoretical preparations that have consumed us over the past year and a half, now we mean physical preparations! Yes, if you haven’t heard, we have plane tickets to leave Chicago on Monday, August 17th. That’s 5 weeks from today!

These past several weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. We are trying to make the most of our time that we have left in the States and have had the amazing opportunity of doing a veritable coast-to-coast driving tour of the mainland US! In June we logged almost 5000 miles from Washington DC to Washington state (albeit in two separate trips, but praise God for traveling mercies!). It was a wonderful chance to see many of our loved ones who don’t live in Chicago and celebrate weddings, birthdays. ordinations, and just have heartwarming reunions! It also meant the first round of goodbyes for us. As often as we have said goodbye in our lives, it never gets any easier. Each time we embrace a friend or family member in farewell, a twinge of sadness overcomes us as we continue to face the reality of this transition.

We still have a few more weeks with our friends and family here in Chicago, but please be praying for us that we would make these moments meaningful and not be overwhelmed by the tasks that need to be accomplished before we go. Sorting, packing, paperwork, and visas are on our minds, so we would appreciate your prayers that everything would get taken care of smoothly and efficiently. Finally, we are hoping to raise our final 17% of funds needed very soon so that our focus can be on our ministry and not as much on finances as we begin our lives in Ecuador!

Thank you friends, for all of your support. We are so grateful that God has brought you into our lives to help sustain us on this journey.
