Carnival 2017

Once a year RFIS students host a day of Carnival for the community, especially the younger kids.  A lot of work and a lot of fun goes into this all day event.

Preparation

Days in advance the preparation begins. Ben’s class was in charge of preparing and selling lunch.

The 9th Grade class got out the old dunk tank and cleaned it up.

The morning of Carnival Ron and Ben got the zip line set up and tested.

The Big Day

When the big day arrived, tents were set up, students got their events ready for the 10:00 crowd.

Caleb manned the grill all day making burgers n dogs
The Katos helped 11th grade by making and selling funnel cakes, and selling Caleb’s world famous iced coffee

Besides lots of great food, there were activities like soap soccer — playing soccer on a soapy wet slippery tarp.

The senior class hosted another wet and wild activity, the slip n slide

Nearby the dunk tank had technical difficulties that were repaired through the day. Sorry, I didn’t get any pictures of teachers getting dunked. I was stationed at the zip line most of the day.

A few of the games are kid favorites, like balloon darts, fish pond, “Tampico bobbing,” video games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, cake walk, and face painting.

Classes earn money at this event to use for special class events and activities. At the same time they create a fun day for families and friends.
