Embracing a New Life
I write this as I wait at the Kelowna Airport to fly to Vancouver and then onto Minneapolis for Gather ’18. This is a trip of saying goodbye to friends and family – it’s only two years, but seems huge since I’ll be on a different continent, in a different hemisphere, what seems to some as a different world. This is a trip of getting to boast about Argentina, along with introducing my friend, Ivan Carrasco, from Argentina. It will be a trip of memories – just a year ago; being commissioned together as New Missionaries. As I embark on this exciting next stage of this journey of life, I’d like to ask something of my friends and family. July 19th would have been our wedding anniversary. Max and I would have been married for 21 years and together for 28 years. I’d like this to be a day of celebration. Would you celebrate with me? Would you be willing to do that one thing that as a couple, or as a single, you always say your going to do or would like to do …. but never do. It might be something as simple as being a tourist in your own town and seeing the museum, going to a play, something big like going ziplining or for a hike […]

Te animo a que te enamores cada día más de tu mejor amigo en la vida-I encourage you to fall deeper in love every day with your best friend in life
Today we would be celebrating 23 years married and 30 years together. Max loved to share the number of years together more than the number of years married. The reality is that we had 20 years married and 27 years together. 27 amazing years filled with love, laughter, tears, disappointments and accomplishments. I want to always honour our life. I want everyone to know the love Max had, the husband he was, the marriage I was so blessed to have. Max chose me to live life to the fullest with. He was my best friend. He was never the old man, the ball and chain.. he was my everything. We had our own ideas about growing old together, so maybe 46 and 44 were old; we had our own jokes about being 80 and 78 and chasing each other around the house. Life didn’t work out that way, but I am so grateful for everyday we did have together. In sickness and health, for better and for worse; but it was all done together. We experienced it all and even more. Life is not for better OR for worse, it is for better AND for worse. Men, love your wives. Treat them like a queen everyday, it doesn’t have to be a special day to do something special, to say […]

Me Voy!
We Walk by Faith NOT by Sight …. 2Cor 5:7 July 5th already. Wow, yikes, exciting, oh dear, awesome, amazing, nervous, anticipating, butterflies, bitter sweet, laughter, love, joy – so many words to describe the range of emotions that I have experienced this past month. If anybody finds a week or so randomly laying about, please send it over. I think I misplaced it somewhere. What a wonderful last month in Canada and in the USA. I have had the wonderful blessing of spending so much time with friends and family. My ‘to do’ list was fairly small this month compared to previous (I guess that’s what happens when you tackle the big list with vengeance to get it all done). I have hiked around Nelson, Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge; kayaked on the lake; rode the KLR several times. I was able to have so many meals and coffees with friends and family and say ciao – it’s only two years and it’ll go quick. I’ve been enjoying the different flavours of spice and even managed to get in some delicious sushi feeds. One more of those and then I should be good for a couple of years. There has been a lot of tears. Bittersweet tears of sadness of what was supposed to be in our minds, and joyful […]
