Done! (mostly)

It feels strange to say this, but I’m “DONE” with Language Study! Now, that is obviously in quotation marks and that is because one is never done learning a different language and culture. It will be a continual process for me, especially as I’m exposed to new levels of culture and new topics of conversation. For example, I was in a business meeting the other day and they kept using the word, “gestion” and my mind just kept hearing things like “gestation” or “digestion”… it means “management” which makes much more sense in a strategic planning session.

However, all good things must come to an end and my days of studying with a tutor have come to a close. She evaluated me and said that I’m in the Advanced level of EspaƱol, so that means that though I do make mistakes when I speak, I’m communicating at a fairly high level. It’s encouraging to see how far I’ve come from “Hooollaaaa, cooomooo estaaaass” to now being able to communicate even abstract thoughts and feelings. The way God has made the mind astounds me.

Thanks for your prayers for a continual learner’s spirit and for continued mastery as I do informal studies (books, videos etc) on my own.

Pray also for this sweet lady, her name is Jacque.
