A couple of weeks ago I had an interesting week. I had the topic of broken-heartedness before God spoken to me from 3 different directions, so I guess that’s what God was trying to get through to me about. Our pastor bro-in-law Tim B. sends us a weekly teaching and he talked about how we need to be broken and humble, and then at our Sunday night prayer meeting our buddy & colleague in Mslim ministry, Kim Cone (our son’s father-in-law) talked about how jealous God is for us and our full attention and the only way we can fully focus that attention is to realize we can bring nothing but our brokenness, and then, in an email book study I’m into with some friends, Paul Yancey says in Prayer, “In the presence of the Great Physician my most appropriate contribution may be my wounds”, and “we must lay before him what is in us, not what ought to be in us”. I am such a prideful one – I need to listen to these words of truth. Lord grant me (and all of us!) the hunger to be broken at His feet daily! I hope these words can be an encouragement to some of you!
Hugs & blessings to the sky,
Aleta
In his letter about broken heartedness, our bro-in-law pointed out that in quite a few versions of the bible there’s a missing piece – compare Luke 4: 18-19 with Isaiah 61: 1-2 – they leave out the broken-hearted ministry phrase in Luke, even though it’s a quote from Isaiah, which includes it. Curious.
