Break in at the CEFA farm

We are so thankful for the continued peace in our area, thankful that no one was hurt or even threatened in this robbery

We had a robbery last week at the CEFA farm’s office.  A major amount of cash was taken, and it was a wakeup call for us, that our anti-theft window bars are not impenetrable.  We sadly had to let our lovable, favorite watchman go, as this was definitely not the first time he was missing on the job, but it was certainly the most serious.  This thievery had nothing to do with the unrest in the east of C.A.R., but everything to do with local opportunists with watchful eyes (they had to have a very specific wrench for the hidden window frame bolts and had to know that there was money in the office that night), figuring out how to make a quick buck.  It seems like our little town has always had its share of robbers, and this time was our turn.  We’ve now put a metal door on the office, reinforced all the windows (on our houses as well), and hired a new watchman, with another to be added soon.  Thank you for continued prayers for us and our ministries.  This loss of cash was a blow to the already struggling CEFA program.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
