Busy on the farm

It worked out quite well to have had this mid year visit to Brackleys’ farm, where our kids live.  We brainstormed about the vision and mission statement as well as the goals for the next year for the ag/discipleship project.  We were all over the place with our slogan/vision in a nutshell: from “back to Eden” to “fruiters and nutters” and “producing fruit of the land and fruit of the spirit”.  What a privilege to have these friends who are so generous and so excited about this project, who love the Lord, and not the least – they are just wonderful fun to be with.

Reservoir and dam being built

Plants need water, and the Brackley retreat farm has a lovely little valley with a spring that Sam is using to make a reservoir with a dam so that water can be pumped up to the nursery.

Nursery tunnel crosspiece reinforcements being put in place

Tree seedlings waiting for the nursery tunnel and its watering system to be set up. In the meantime, they wait, near the house.

Labels for the seedlings, now we pray that the seeds sprout!

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
