We are back to our regularly scheduled programing after a week of vacation from school for the kids and the country celebrating carnival.   Carnival is widely celebrated throughout Latin America in the days leading up to Ash Wednesday and the observance of Lent.  Our daughter and I were home when the festivities broke out in our neighborhood and I thought I would pass along some fun photos and videos of the day.  Throughout Ecuador people “play carnival” by having large water fights and spraying “carioca” – like silly string – at one another.  You have to be careful leaving the house during these days – anyone can fall victim anywhere!  Chris was even pelted with water balloons by the neighbor boys on the roof across the street while cutting our lawn.

It is also a time to spend with family and we are so grateful to always be included as part of our Pastor’s family!  We spent Monday with them playing and enjoying a great BBQ.
