Looking back

These weeks have been extremely busy as we are preparing for the 50th anniversary of the Covenant Church of Colombia. We will have a big weekend celebration in November and in the meantime we are working on details of receiving guests, planning the details of the celebration, making a documentary video, along with a multitude of other things. This past week I had the pleasure of looking through the old photo albums that the first missionaries left here. The picture date back to 1968 with the arrival of the first missionary couple, Wayne and Mary Anne Weld. I’ve been reading through the missionary newsletters from 1969 and 1970 and re-learning the history of the church here. It is humbling and inspiring. To see the ways that God has used people throughout history – men, women, boys, girls, youth – to impact the world for Christ is truly a gift. The story is still being written and God invites each of us to be a part of it. Here are a few pictures from the early years.
