Picture of the week

So we thought it would be fun to add a new feature to our blog and share with you a picture of the week. This will be something that captures what’s happening in our lives, in our ministry and in our preparations to serve in Colombia. This week’s picture comes to you from Seattle!

Our family in Seattle

We have been in Seattle visiting churches that are interested in partnering with us in Colombia. This is our first time in Washington and we’ve been enjoying the beautiful sites, while we visit churches and meet with pastors and mission committees. One of the highlights of our time has been staying with the Mohn Family, dear friends we met in Seminary. It’s been awesome to have time to talk with them, share life with them, and let our kids spend time together.

Another highlight of our time was hosting a Taste of Colombia event at the church in Everett. They held it after the Sunday Service and around 50 or 60 people came – we had lunch together and Julio and I had the opportunity to show pictures and share a little about our ministry and life in Colombia. I, Katie, was pretty proud as we managed to cook “arroz con pollo” for that many people. That was definitely a “first” for me. And, it actually tasted good 🙂

We also had a great meeting with the mission committee of Kent Covenant Church, which is a new supporting church. What a wonderful group of people who really took the time to get to know us, encourage us and pray for us. We are so excited for the new partnerships that God is preparing for us. We have had so many great meetings with pastors and lay leaders around the Seattle area. People have opened up their homes, driven us around town, and genuinely encouraged us in ministry. We’ve made lots of great memories.
