Today we would be celebrating 23 years married and 30 years together. Max loved to share the number of years together more than the number of years married. The reality is that we had 20 years married and 27 years together. 27 amazing years filled with love, laughter, tears, disappointments and accomplishments. I want to always honour our life. I want everyone to know the love Max had, the husband he was, the marriage I was so blessed to have. Max chose me to live life to the fullest with. He was my best friend. He was never the old man, the ball and chain.. he was my everything. We had our own ideas about growing old together, so maybe 46 and 44 were old; we had our own jokes about being 80 and 78 and chasing each other around the house. Life didn’t work out that way, but I am so grateful for everyday we did have together. In sickness and health, for better and for worse; but it was all done together. We experienced it all and even more. Life is not for better OR for worse, it is for better AND for worse. Men, love your wives. Serving and loved in Argentina. One year ago today I was in the middle of my travels. Moving from Nelson,BC to Bariloche,Argentina. From the far North to the far South Max always said. My remaining material possessions boxed in storage, klrs and kayaks left with friends, 4 suitcases with me. Wow, a year already. Learning castellano, adapting to a new culture, learning/accepting and walking forward in this new life. Being taught an even deeper sense of faith and trust as I surrender even more to walk across those rickety bridges and around the corner where I can’t see where the path goes. I still don’t agree with the fact that my best friend isn’t here to share these memories but I get to see the impact he had. I get to see how God used our time here before. I get to honor Max. I get the opportunity to wholeheartedly say Yes Lord, your will not mine. Its not always easy to do this, but I am so grateful for friends and family, all around the world. And I am especially grateful for my family here, walking alongside me, sometimes picking me up, but mostly for living life together. Here’s to being home.              Report This Post
