My dad passed away Friday night at about midnight, with my stepmom right by his side. He had been unconscious for a few days as a result of a bad infection that turned into a more serious infection of his whole blood system, but had been actually quite well at Christmas, according to my sister. I am flying home to be with family in California this week, and am looking forward to being with them and saying goodbye with them to our Daddypops, who lived a long and satisfying life of 85 years. I will especially cherish the memories of family times of camping vacations and playing board games and being silly and that tender hug and blessing before he walked me down the aisle. I will never forget the precious time with him summer of 2009 when we prayed together and laughed together – some precious hours of lucidity in the midst of many hours of confusion. I will miss him, but I am so very thankful that his pain is over with. He had a rough few last years of his life and he always told me “these are NOT golden years!!!” Goodbye, Daddypops, I love you.
Peace to his memory.
