Fulani guests at the farm!!

I was out picking mulberries and Roy was across the stream planting in the reforestation area when Kim pulled up to our house with two Fulani men. These two are our first Fulani guests out at the farm since 2014 when they were all chased out of the country!!  One of them, the guy on the right, is Y, a dear friend and a son of Chief T.  He is the one many of you prayed for about 10 years ago, when he was kidnapped and held for ransom.  Then you prayed for him to recover from a very serious motorcycle accident – we thought he wouldn’t make it, but here he is today, strong and healthy.  blog-y-1st-f-guestsI was overjoyed to welcome them, to realize that finally, this might be the beginning of many more visits.  Please do keep praying for CAR though.  We still hear rumors and murmurs, and there are still skirmishes with deaths and injuries taking place, usually in the north and east of the country, far from us.

Okay, as I’m writing this, I just remembered that a Fulani friend, actually Y’s half-sister, came from the hospital out to the farm for a few minutes while Kim picked up some lovely fertilizer from our cattle enclosure.   So Y was not officially the first guest, though he is the first one to sit and have tea and chat with us.♥

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
