The father of a close friend of mine in California recently passed away. She and her family are grieving, but mixed in with that sorrow is a peace and joy because they know that their dad is whole and with the Lord. In contrast, this group of men, sons of our dear friend, Chief T, who passed away a few years ago, don’t have that reassurance. They recently were gathered on their lamb feast holiday, feasting not just on food but on fellowship. We were joyful guests, joining in as they celebrated with laughter and stories and memories. They celebrated with thankfulness to God for bringing them through tough times. They talked about their dad’s penchant for welcoming people with a jolly disregard of their cultural system of being polite. They don’t understand, yet, that there is a Father who loves them more than theirs here on earth. Would you pray for our friends, that they would become aware of God’s free grace?
