Skype is a wondrous gift to Gramdee across the miles

seasblog farmfam goodbye

Oh what delight!  To Skype (video chat on our computer) with our kids and grandkids, in Indiana and South Africa – WOW!  This Gramdee’s heart is full.  We heard all of their voices, and saw most of their faces – we missed seeing Elaina and Sawyer in S.A., but we did get to see Sam & Anna for a bit before the connection wonked out on us.  In any case, to hear and see these precious ones, what a gift!  We are amazed at what the years have brought to us, when we think back on our first years in Africa back in the late ‘70’s when we sent and received snailmail only and the turnaround time was minimum 6 weeks.  We would send rolls of film home with friends going to the states, and we’d only see the prints or slides when we ourselves went back to the U.S.  What wonderful progress.  We won’t go into all the icky stuff that same moving along our timeline has brought, but we do proclaim that God is good and we thank him for these gifts!

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
