For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies

We were on our way home from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and were treated to a magnificent sunset – these 3 snapshots were taken from the car window as we tootled along the freeway within a span of 20 minutes max.  Sorry for the blur, but it was a lovely evening.  Our friend, Benny Turk, when he was about 3 or 4, was walking along the path with me one evening in Gamboula, and he looked up at the pink and lavender and orange of the sky.  He asked me what color up there I liked best, and then proceeded to explain that God painted it up there just for me.  YES!  Benny is now at Letourneau University in Texas, and he continues to be a very sweet and quite brilliant young man.  I will never forget his words of 15 years ago.  Let’s remember to look up and realize what God has done, is doing, and will do!  He loves us so.blog sunset1 blog sunset2 blog sunset3

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
