We’re in this together

“We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labour of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

While we miss Colombia, our friends in Colombia, our church family in Colombia, we have been encouraged in these past months as we’ve been able to travel and visit churches that have committed to supporting us as we serve in Colombia. Our ministry partners have encouraged us in many ways over the past four years. And now we have the joy of sharing in person some of the ways we have experienced God working in Colombia. We truly consider it a gift to partner with local churches in North America and to be sent and supported by them. We have learned from them, as we’ve visited and have heard and seen the ways that they are helping their congregations go deeper in faith and further in mission.

As we visited Creekside Covenant in San Leandro we were blown away by the kids and youth who lead the time of singing during the worship service, only to find out they are a part of a music program the church offers in the afternoons to people in the community. We have met people who have found a way to be freed from their addictions, through programs like Celebrate Recovery that many of the churches we partner with offer. As we travel and have the opportunity to talk with many people we remember that we are better together. We are partners in the gospel – both locally and globally. These visits have been encouraging for us and we have felt so incredibly welcomed and cared for by the people who have received us. We look forward to interacting with more churches and ministry partners in the upcoming months and pray that we would be able to give back to these churches that have so faithfully stood beside us and sent us to Colombia.
