United in God’s mission

God’s word makes it clear that the mission begins with God and we are invited to join in on God’s mission (Matthew 28:19-20). The Covenant Church has been serving in Colombia since 1968. It is incredible to see the dedication and passion that Colombians have for the gospel and for sharing the gospel message with other people. Churches are truly impacting their communities in word and deed, as they reach out in tangible, physical ways.

A week ago there was a joint worship service for the Covenant churches in Medellin (there are over 16 including established churches and church plants). Churches came together to worship God, to encourage one another, to hear about how the Covenant is involved in God’s mission around the globe, to pray for their city and country, and to get to know one another. How awesome to see the sanctuary packed with people from around the city and to be reminded of our united mission in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12).

I had the opportunity to spend some time with the children who came as we talked about what it meant to serve in God’s mission in Colombia and around the world. They had a blast making their own passports for the journey.

We were also recently able to celebrate a special time with all the pastors and their spouses from Medellin a few weeks ago. This is such a special group of people who serve God wholeheartedly. It’s been a joy to get to know them. What a night we had! So much laughter, encouragement, and delicious food.
