This past week we had the opportunity to travel to California to visit friends and churches in the Sacramento and Bay areas. It was Julio’s spring break and a much needed break from the Chicago cold and a chance to connect with old friends and make new ones. Our host family for the week, the Lockes, were short-term missionaries in Colombia last year and we were so blessed by their hospitality during our time in California. Our boys loved having the extra attention Sam loved having the space to run and play (as well as a dog and cat to chase around!) During our visit in we were able to speak at Stockton Covenant Church on a Sunday morning about our upcoming ministry in Colombia and felt so affirmed as people from the congregation came forward to pray for us.

During the week we met with many different pastors and church leaders to hear about their heart for global mission and share about how we feel God is calling us to serve in Colombia. We are excited about some potential partnerships for the future, as we look for ways to help individuals and congregations connect with what God is doing in Colombia. We had a great visit with our friend, Pastor Ron Short, who we met back in Colombia over 6 years ago. We also got to visit friends Julio had made over 10 years ago, when they were in Colombia on a short-term mission trip with their church. We were so thankful for the opportunity some friends gave us to share in their small group, for the opportunity to meet for lunch and coffee with different pastors and leaders, and worship with a church on Sunday morning.

We are so thankful for our boys who did such a wonderful job during all the travels and for the quality time that we were able to spend as a family. In the midst of a very busy season in our lives, we are constantly reminded of the importance of pouring time and energy and love into our marriage and children. We ask for your prayers as we have a few other trips coming up during the month of April. Pray that God would continue to open the doors for us to return to Colombia and serve.
