At Midwinter, we did Youth Worker Connection a little different this year! That’s why it’s so important for us to know what you’re thinking – whether you are pleased with your experience or think something could be done better in the future.

Please take a moment to answer a few questions about your experience in San Diego. We love to hear what you thought. From our service, awakening options, if you were not able to go….why, to our efficiency – we want to hear all about it! . It’s a great way for us to gauge how we’re doing.

We’d also love to hear from you – and interact with you – on our social media channels. Like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. We’ll keep you up to date on Youth Worker events and news – and we like to have some fun, too! You can send us thoughts, comments, or whatever you think we need to know. We can’t wait to hear from you!

If you went to CHIC 2006 or 2009, you might remember the organization Feed My Starving Children. Students at CHIC had the opportunity to take part in a service project by packing meals to be sent around the world to malnourished children.

FMSC is a Christian organization dedicated to feeding God’s children, hungry in body and spirit. To date, FMSC has sent over 400,000,000 meals to children in 70 countries around the world. The meals are composed of four ingredients: chicken (actually a vegetarian, chicken-flavored powder), veggies (dehydrated potatoes and carrots), soy, and rice. The recipe was developed by food scientists to give malnourished children the vitamins and minerals they need to grow into healthy children.

This winter I read “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” by Michelle Alexander. I’d heard about the book months earlier and had been intrigued by the title. Many others have read the book and I would be interested in a conversation regarding its contents with any of you who accept my invitation to read it.

Not sure you’re ready to commit yet? Perhaps start by reading the article recently published on the Covenant Newswire.

I recommend you subscribe to receive the latest Covenant news and announcements directly in your email inbox.

Have you heard of JP’s Custom Caricature? For years our own Jeff Palmberg been creating group caricatures following each summer’s mission trip that he has given to the students as a reminder of the trip. He works to include jokes and memories from the trip and they’ve been a fun way to recall all that happened.

We’d like to suggest that this may be a great way to build team unity among your staff/summer staff. For only $20/person Jeff will create a full-color 11×17 caricature that you can frame as well as a digital file so that you can make copies for everyone!

Check out his Facebook page JP’s Custom Caricature for more samples of his work and additional info. Thank you for considering this idea or other ways he can create something for you!
