Triennial Site Inspection and North Pacific Conference!

Hey!  I’ve traveled quite a bit in the last three weeks, so I’ve seen many of you. I returned a week ago from a two-part journey, and I am still getting re-oriented.

The beautiful Town and Country Resort is the site of Triennial XIV, August 15-18, 2013.

I went to the amazing Town and Country Resort in San Diego, CA, the site of Triennial XIV. Wow, am I excited about this property! It’s such a terrific place for us to gather, with its five restaurants, Bella Tosca day spa, three pools, magnificent meeting space and abundant patios, gazebos and verandas. The 40+ lush acres of this place are nestled between the 27 holes of the Riverwalk Golf Course and the stunning Fashion Valley Shopping Mall with a stop on the San Diego Metro Transit “trolley” directly adjacent. I’m just guessing, but I think there are at least 500 award-winning rose bushes flourishing there. Maybe I’m partial to T & C because it started in 1953, just like I did, but it is really a wonderful place—thoroughly modern and recently renovated. I can’t wait to be there with the wonderful women of the Covenant, worshiping, connecting, learning, and seeking God together. Please save the date—August 15-18, 2013. You know, if you start saving this week, you’ll have plenty when it comes time to register.

It was great to connect at the North Pacific Conference Pastors and Spouses Retreat.

From San Diego I went to the beautiful Camp of the Cascades in Yelm, WA, just missing the North Pacific Conference Women‘s Retreat, but in time for the NPC Pastors and Spouses’ Retreat where I enjoyed the company of 200 men, women and children. Yes, you got that right—200! The conference ministerium includes families in its gathering and dedicated volunteers staff the childcare needs. I loved getting to know the conference staff, clergy and staff persons of so many stripes. Thank you to each one who was kind enough to reach out to me. I loved reconnecting with old friends and forging new relationships. I’m so looking forward to being at the women’s retreat next year. Stay tuned for more info on that.

For folks in the Chicago area, I want you to know about an opportunity being made available through our friends at Willow Creek Community Church. They’re offering a three-week class called Human Trafficking and Exploitation in Your Own Backyard. Unfortunately, we’ve missed the first two weeks, but you may want to get in on the conversation next Wednesday night, October 19. Read more HERE.

Remember, too, Bloomington (MN) Covenant Church’s DAYBREAK Human Trafficking Forum, October 28-30. Starting with a prayer walk at the Mall of America, a significant center for trafficked persons, the event gets rolling on Saturday morning with experts presenting, exhibits and a 3rd world craft marketplace. Professor Boaz Johnson of North Park University will speak about trafficking on Sunday. This is a great opportunity for Twin Citizens to connect and engage with this important issue. Cyd Johnson of our Human Trafficking Task Force is coordinator.

Thanks so much for your kind and careful interest.  It means so much!

Blessings,
Meagan
