Reverend Jules Mboka was re-elected to serve a second 4 year term as President of the CEUM during the General Assembly (biennial meeting) January 10-15. The meeting was held in the village of Botakambia. After conducting the business of the denomination during the first 4 days of the meeting the final day was the election for various officers.
President Mboka
In preparation for the presidential election, the moderator called everyone to seek the Lord for who He would have them nominate. Nominations were received from the floor and then the delegates voted amongst all those nominated.
The top 3 vote recipients in this first vote then stood for the final election. These three were President Mboka, Rev. Duale Langba and Rev. Elenga Liwawa. Reverend Mboka was elected overwhelming. Subsequent elections included those for Vice-President, the administrative council and other positions.
The CEUM is very careful with the election process. The first step is for everyone to exit the church. Next they readmit people carefully making sure that only the only the actual delegates for each region (conference) were admitted. People’s names were checked off on a list and they were given a name card. For the voting itself, Keith Gustafson and Marta Klein were asked to help people vote.
Each delegate came forward where they received a paper for the vote. As needed Keith and Marta helped delegates to write the name. They also participated in counting the ballots and verifying that the number of ballots equaled the number of delegates. The CEUM also had a lawyer present to assist with the vote.
