Some of you have heard this news, but here’s the story in a nutshell and the prayer requests. Josh was coaching 10 year old Maia’s soccer team and decided to have a parents vs. kids game at the last practice, May 27th. He accidently stepped on the ball and went down with his full weight on his right elbow (thankfully he’s left handed), driving his upper arm into his shoulder blade and clavicle. His upper arm is fine but his shoulder is a mess, the repair of which was not something local doctors were willing or able to tackle. Kimia’s family is blessed with 2 orthopedic surgeon friends, one living in Indianapolis, so they got excellent second opinions and a referral to a shoulder trauma surgeon with an outstanding reputation, there in Indy(about a two hour drive from us). After an appointment in Indy and lots of time on the phone and in prayer, Josh will be going in for surgery at 12 noon on June 9th , in Indy. We would so appreciate your prayers for a smooth surgery and healing. He has been getting out and walking every day, but he is tired of sleeping in a recliner. Thankfully his pain is at a minimum as long as he keeps his arm in a certain position. The doctors have okayed him to go back to work, summer school, I think it starts June 17th, so that’s a relief to them. He is to begin physical therapy about 6 weeks after the surgery, so we’d appreciate prayer for wisdom about vacation and travel around that time.
