Soup kitchen shopping

It’s a privilege to help out with the work going on with Abounding Hope at the Masinenge settlement.  The soup kitchen cooks need groceries to make the healthy hot meals for the neediest community members, and what could be better than to get the bonus of hugs for volunteering?   I have yet to be at the settlement when folks gather to pick up their meals – you can see the stack of containers gathering at the gate, they leave them at the kitchen gate in the morning and pick them up full at around noon.

The daycare, in the front side of this fenced in area, will take a summer break, starting soon, but the soup kitchen continues.  Please pray for the love of God, shared in tangible ways, to sink deep in the hearts of these people who are struggling to survive.  Please pray for Shirley O and the non-profit, Abounding Hope, the base for survival of the daycare, soup kitchen, and visitation in the settlement.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
