Al & Josef’s visit

Over the weekend we had the privilege of hosting Al Tizon, Director of the Covenant’s Serve Globally, and Josef Rasheed, Regional Coordinator for Covenant’s mission work in Africa.  It was a very special time, getting to know these two men a little bit better.  They are relatively new to their positions, and it is a joy to see how they are gifted in what they do.  We watched them in action, interacting with our friends and colleagues; from prayer to laughter, from listening to sharing their own stories, and their constant encouraging words, they blessed us.  Here they are in CEFA tshirts – the twins, Al on the left, Josef on the right.  We had a lot of laughs because, for some reason, I kept calling Josef Al.  I don’t know what wires got crossed, but it kept coming out of my mouth wrong.  I had to keep telling myself, Josef is the one with the beard!!!blog-twins

We visited Fulani friends in the town across the river, and our guests listened with heavy hearts as they heard the stories of C.A.R. refugees.  Josef was able to share the story of his pilgrimage, out of Islaxm, and I have a feeling that witness will be talked about among many, for a long time to come.  We are thankful for Josef’s openness and for the Fulani’s listening ears.blog-fulani

They were able to visit a nearby village ag co-op; they saw beans being harvested and beans being eaten by the kids in the village.  They prayed over these precious little ones, for health, safety, and blessing.

We had lunch with the CEFA staff, and one of the guys ate so much more than anyone else he had to stand alot of ribbing from everyone.blog-prize-winning-eater

blog-cefa-groupWe have come away from their visit greatly encouraged.  These guys are so specifically gifted by God to fill the positions they have been given.  We thank the Lord for Al & Josef, and look forward to ministering with them in the years to come.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
