Alexandre, who learned beekeeping from Timothy Chapman last year, is busy harvesting honey. They have to harvest at dusk, because that’s when the bees are most calm, as I understand it. He’s holding large pieces of comb which were harvested from a wooden hive Timothy had built and left next to his house. Sorry I didn’t get Alexandre’s face – he has a great smile. The honey gets squeezed from the comb and poured into bottles with the label “Anzerre a hon” which means beyond tasty in Sango! It is yummy, and so much better than what is available locally, because the local stuff often is full of smoke and also watered down!
